Madrid, 20 September 2022 (dpa/MIA) - Spanish police, along with Italian colleagues and Europol, have struck a major blow against two drug cartels on the popular Spanish holiday island Ibiza. One of the gangs is an offshoot of what is likely the largest European mafia organization, the Italian 'Ndrangheta, and the other is of Albanian origin, police said on Tuesday. In two large-scale operations under the code name Dragon Ball, 400 officers arrested 31 people in 42 house searches across the Mediterranean island and other regions of Spain. Large quantities of drugs, cash, weapons and documents were seized by the authorities, as well as homes and additional assets totalling €22 million ($21.9 million) in value.
