Slavko Janevski Foundation to hold 2023 Novel of the Year award ceremony

Skopje, 20 May 2024 (MIA) - The 2023 Novel of the Year award will be presented to Macedonian author Lidija Dimkovska at the Drama Theatre in Skopje Monday evening for her novel “Unique Citizen Identification Number” (Tri, 2023).
The Novel of the Year contest is organized by Slavko Janevski Foundation and sponsored by Komercijalna banka. The winner gets a statuette, a plaque, and Mden 150,000.
Novel of the Year award is also supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Between 1999 and 2017, the award was given by Utrinski vesnik. After the newspaper’s demise, Slavko Janevski Foundation took over the book contest.
According to organizers, the award ceremony will include a jazz performance by Goce Stevkovski Septet.
Lidija Dimkovska (b. 1971, Skopje) is a poet, novelist, essayist, and translator and has published seven books of poetry, three novels, one American diary, and one short-story collection translated into fifteen languages.
