Skopje's Centar to finance local World Poetry Day music acts

Skopje, 11 March 2025 (MIA) — Skopje's Municipality of Centar has issued an open call for local artists interested in setting Macedonian poetry to music for an event marking World Poetry Day, March 21.

 

According to a Centar Municipality press release, the aim of the project is to promote poetry as part of Macedonian cultural heritage.

 

"This unique fusion of poetry and music will be performed on March 21, World Poetry Day. The goal is to encourage our artists to combine notes and words in harmony, creating a new experience that will bring poetry closer to everyone," said Centar Mayor Goran Gerasimovski.

 

Eligible to participate are individuals and legal entities headquartered in the Municipality of Centar. The public call closes on March 15.

 

Organizers will select the winning entries based on their originality and the authors' previous work. The total budget for the winners is Mden 400,000 (EUR 6,500).

 

The World Poetry Day event is part of the municipal cultural programming for 2025. mr/
