Skopje public transport uninterrupted, JSP employees to get January wages

Skopje, 16 February 2024 (MIA) - Public Transport Enterprise (JSP) Skopje buses are resuming their operations as normal on Friday after receiving assurances they would get the January wages during the day.

"Misunderstandings have been overcome and employees will get the January wages during the day. In the interest of our beneficiaries, we will provide regular service with all public transport buses on the streets," said JSP Skopje union leader Mikjo Stojanovski.

He expressed hope this would mark the end of all wrangling and citizens will no longer have to think about the enterprise and the employees' salaries.

Back in January, JSP employees put the city’s public transport on hold after failing to receive their December wages. As a result, the Skopje City Council held an extraordinary session during which it approved EUR 11 million in subsidies to the enterprise, with the goal of ensuring payment of the workers’ wages.
