Skopje Poetry Festival 2023 kicks off

Skopje, 27 September 2023 (MIA) - A poetry reading entitled "Air. Wind. Breathing." will officially open the third edition of the Skopje Poetry Festival at the Youth Cultural Center (MKC) on Wednesday. 

 

Participants at the opening include Sande Stojchevski, Ljulzim Haziri, Monika Stojanovska, Perica Sardzoski, Igor Trpcheski, Nikolina Andova Shopova, Dragoslav Dedović (Serbia), Lana Derkač (Croatia), Alen Brlek (Croatia), Maram al-Masri (France/Syria), Immanuel Mifsud (Malta), Martin Glaz Serup (Denmark) and the Springboard young poet. The reading will be accompanied by a musical improvisation with brass instruments. Musicians include Perica Sardzoski, Vladimir Martinovski and Vladimir Lukash.

 

The festival kicked off with morning yoga and poetry meditation guided by Marija Georgieva at the City Park Skopje.

 

 

Skopje's City Library Brothers Miladinov is hosting at 11 am a master class workshop for creative writing poetry for young people with Immanuel Mifsud, a poet and a University Professor from Malta. 

 

In addition, the Youth Cultural Center (MKC) is set to host book launch and poetry reading of “A New Birth of the Word" - an anthology of Macedonian young poetry, compiled by Vesna Mojsova-Chepishevska and Ivan Antonovski, with performances by thirty of the forty-two young poets at this year's festival. 

 

The 2023 Skopje Poetry Festival is backed by the Ministry of Culture and TRADUKI, as well as the Youth Cultural Center (MKC) - Skopje, City Library Brothers Miladinov- Skopje, café bookstore "Bukva", the Croatian Writers' Society (HDP), PNV Publishing, and  "Best Western Hotel Turist"; with "Nova Makedonija" as media sponsor, and "Kultura Beta" as media partner. ssh/nn/
