Skopje, 25 September 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, within the frameworks of her participation in the 79th United Nations General Assembly attended a meeting of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats and a debate of the Security Council, where she had brief meetings with several leaders and representatives of international organizations, her Office said Wednesday. 

“Upon the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, President Siljanovska-Davkova attended the meeting of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats, led by the U.S., with the goal of uniting international efforts and taking coordinated actions to address the threats of synthetic drugs, which are on the rise globally. The meeting was addressed by U.S. President Biden and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken,” Siljanovska-Davkova's Office said in a press release.

The President also attended a meeting of the U.N. Security Council on the Maintenance of Peace and Security of Ukraine, chaired by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob.

As part of her participation in the U.N. General Assembly, Siljanovska-Davkova also met with the UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous. 

“The two shared experiences about activities taken by women-leaders to promote and maintain peace and sustainable development and exchanged views on the steps that global leaders have to take in order to ensure continued progress on gender equality, strengthening the role of women and their greater inclusion in decision-making and policy-making processes,” the press release said.

President Siljanovska-Davkova highlighted the readiness of the Macedonian institutions to continue the excellent cooperation with UN Women, as well as her strong commitment to the promotion of the overall role of women.
