Siljanovska Davkova - Radev: Bilateral disputes should be resolved based on EU principles and values

Skopje, 13 November 2024 (MIA) – President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev during the COP29 Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to the President’s Office, the one-hour talks, held in a constructive atmosphere, focused on improving Macedonian – Bulgarian relations, overcoming unresolved issues between the two countries and exploring opportunities for deepening and enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
They expressed their views on the possible solutions to the obstacles facing North Macedonia’s EU integration.
Siljanovska Davkova underscored the need to continue bilateral political dialogue at all levels, noting that the positions and interests of both parties must be respected, and that resolving bilateral disputes should be based on fundamental values and principles of the European Union.
According to President’s Office, Siljanovska Davkova highlighted that relations should be built on mutual respect, support, and active cooperation, which will foster trust and friendship between the two peoples.
Bulgarian President Radev emphasized the need for a swift resolution of unresolved issues, as well as the importance of establishing strong relations in all areas of mutual interest to ensure better mutual understanding.
They also agreed to organize official visits during which they will define the efforts to improve overall cooperation between the two countries, reads the press release of the President’s Office.
