Skopje, 17 December 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has met with Peter Smallwood, prominent member of the British Conservative Party, and Ron Nehring, Director of International Training at The Leadership Institute and former chairman of the California Republican Party. 

Interlocutors exchanged views on international, European and regional politics, military conflicts and possible solutions for peace, the President's Office said in a press release. 

Special attention was paid to the Western Balkans and its long and complicated democratic consolidation and European integration, adds the press release.

Participants in the meeting reaffirmed and highlighted the importance of the US-Macedonian strategic partnership, after the victory of the Republican Party and Donald Trump in the presidential elections.

Talks concurred that the integration of the Western Balkans in the EU will finally put an end to the threat of destabilization and Balkanization and lead to its reunification in Europe, where it belongs not only geographically, but also historically and culturally.

In addition, interlocutors expressed understanding and support for the start of the country's negotiations with the EU.
