Skopje, 10 October 2025 (MIA) - The deadline for sick and infirm persons to register to vote in the upcoming local elections expires at midnight tonight. The deadline for those under house arrest to register to vote in the upcoming local elections expires on October 14. 

According to the State Election Commission (SEC), sick and infirm voters have the obligation to submit a notification to the relevant municipal election commissions no later than seven days prior to the Election Day, i.e. October 10 at midnight. 

Homebound persons should also submit appropriate medical documentation to the municipal election commissions.

Voting in prisons, as well as for homebound voters and those under house arrest, takes place one day prior to Election Day, i.e. on October 18.

Electoral boards conduct the voting process for the homebound voters and those under house arrest. 

There are a total of 1,832,415 voters registered in the voters list ahead of the 2025 local elections. Of those, 1,717,803 voters are registered in the extracts of the voters list. According to the register of the authorities, a total of 112,000 expatriates, 2,162 inmates or detainees and 450 nursing home residents are eligible to vote.
