Skopje, 12 October 2025 (MIA) — SDSM's Skopje mayoral Candidate Kaja Shukova has announced her plans to open women's shelters in Skopje as well as set up a home-based community paramedicine program for at-risk seniors who have difficulty navigating the health care system.
Speaking to the press earlier Sunday, Shukova said the City of Skopje with her as mayor would establish a fund for people at risk to provide them with health and social support. Public spaces and public transit, she added, would be made be accessible to people with disabilities.

She also promised "building day care centers for the elderly, opening multi-sensory rooms in schools for children with developmental disabilities and establishing training and employment programs for vulnerable groups."
"Our goal is clear – for Skopje to become a city of equality, support and human solidarity," she said.
Shukova noted there were elderly people who lived alone, women who suffered domestic violence and children with disabilities who did not receive the support they need. "This cannot be the city's reality. We have a clear plan on how to create a city that cares, a city with social services that are accessible, humane and close to everyone," she said. mr/
