Shekerinska oversees reconstruction of Military Intelligence and Security Service building
Skopje, 4 January 2022 (MIA) – Defence Minister Radmila Shekerinska on Tuesday oversaw the Military Intelligence and Security Service building, which has been under reconstruction for two months. “This reconstruction is important as part of the general efforts and plans of the Ministry of Defense for reconstruction of the infrastructure, which often dates to more than 50 years ago. However, it is also important for another reason - with the reconstruction we are introducing even higher security rules that will provide complete security of our classified information. It is a building where data is stored, information that is very often of a classified nature and it is very important that they are stored where there are higher security standards,” Shekerinska said. The Minister pointed out that this project, which was launched more than a year and a half ago, has provided another completely new building within the Ministry of Defense, and meets high requirements for security of classified information, both domestic and NATO- classified information, as well as complete security of protected network. “It is precisely the Military Intelligence and Security Service that is the first institution which, though part of the Ministry, received a certificate for a fully protected network according to all standards and rules that are part of such classification,” Shekerinska added. The reconstruction of the building, which is taking place in several stages, will be fully completed within the next few months. “There’ll be additional security measures both inside and outside the building, special access to the building and much better conditions for quality work of our Military Security Service, which is one of the most frequent contact points for our NATO allies,” said Minister Shekerinska. She pointed out that the reconstruction is part of a bigger project on reconstruction of old buildings in the Ministry and the Army, adding that two reconstructions are underway in the Ilinden barracks, as well as reconstruction of two buildings within the light infantry in Shtip, a major reconstruction is underway in Krivolak, and reconstruction of facilities in Veles is starting.
