Shaqiri: All processes for primary, secondary education textbooks to be completed in October and November
Bitola, 3 October 2022 (MIA) - Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri said he expects all processes for all primary and secondary education textbooks to be completed in the National Commission as well as in terms of the printing process in October and November.
Shaqiri told reporters in Bitola that the issue with the textbooks dates from before, not only in the current school year.
“The issue with textbooks is not only in the current school year. In the previous school year, we started a new concept for primary education and new curricula. The concept last year was only for the first and fourth grades. In the first grade, we had materials that were prepared the previous year by the Education Development Bureau, and for the fourth grade, we had printed and digital materials. When I took office as minister, citizens demanded printed textbooks back in the process. I supported digitalization, and I also said that printed textbooks will be back in the process, but for that to happen, it was necessary to form a National Commission that should take into account the Law on Textbooks. The Commission has already approved textbooks, we are completing the process of complaints for economic operator, and after closing the process and approving textbooks, I expect all processes for all textbooks to be completed in the National Commission as well as in terms of the printing process in the months of October and November,” said Minister Shaqiri.
During his visit to the St. Kliment Ohridski University in Bitola, Shaqiri announced setting up a Council that will resolve issues with textbooks.
“All activities will be coordinated with the establishment of the Council, because everything doesn’t depend on the Ministry of Education and Science, but also on other institutions,” Shaqiri said.
