Paris, 21 June 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Several people were seriously injured and others suffered minor injuries in a gas explosion in central Paris, according to Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne.

It was unclear how many people were hurt, she said, after the fire spread to neighbouring buildings.

Media reports citing the police said 16 people were injured.

More victims may still be trapped under the rubble.

A total of 230 firefighters have been deployed to the scene, broadcaster BFMTV reported.

A crisis centre has been established, said Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.
