Serbia’s consumer prices up by 10.4%
Belgrade, 13 June 2022 (MIA) — Consumer prices in Serbia in May 2022 increased by 10.4% compared to May 2021, MIA’s Belgrade correspondent reports citing the latest figures released by Serbia’s Republic Statistical Office. Compared to April 2022, consumer prices rose by 1.2%, and compared to December 2021, consumer prices rose by 5.6%. Compared to the same time last year, food prices rose by 16%. The price of meat saw the biggest spike, jumping by 21.3%, followed by the price of coffee and tea by 25%. Bread and cereals are almost 17% more expensive, and vegetables are 15% more expensive, except during the fresh fruit season, which reduced the produce price hike to 9.7%. Prices of oils and fats rose by 17.5% and prices of milk, cheese and eggs by 15.4%. Fuel prices have increased by 23%, restaurant and hotel prices by 11%, and furniture prices by 12 to 13%. mr/
