Serbia fight back to win Olympic air pistol mixed event gold

Paris, 30 July 2024 (dpa/MIA) - Serbia's Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec claimed air pistol mixed team event gold at the Paris Olympics with a dramatic 16-14 comeback victory over Turkey's Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec on Tuesday.
Former women's event world champion Arunovic and Mikec trailed 8-2 and 14-12 in the final at the at the Chateauroux shooting centre but came back strong to clinch the gold in the final round with a joint 20.1 score to the Turks' 19.3.
The silver is meanwhile Turkey's first ever shooting medal at the Olympics. Tarhan and Dikec had also come second at last year's world championships. They reached the final as qualifying winners.
The bronze medal went to India's Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, who beat South Koreans Lee Wonho and Oh Je Jin 16-10. Bhaker had also won bronze in the women's individual event.
The men's trap final was scheduled for later Tuesday.
