Skopje, 31 October 2023 (MIA) – Industrial production in rose by 4.5 percent in September 2023 compared to September 2022, and by 0.7 percent in the January-September period of 2023 compared to the same period last year, said the State Statistical Office on Tuesday.

The industrial production in the section Mining and quarrying in September 2023, in comparison with September 2022, increased by 23.4 percent, in the section Manufacturing it increased by 3.8 percent, while in the section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it decreased by 10.1 percent.

The Statistical Office said the increase in the section Manufacturing is mostly due to increased production in the divisions, Manufacture of beverages, Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical product and pharmaceutical preparations, Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, Manufacture of basic metals, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. and Manufacture of furniture.

The industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings in September 2023, in comparison with September 2022, was higher in Intermediate goods, except energy by 21.5 percent and Capital goods by 0.7 percent, but lower in Energy by 10.5 percent, Durable consumer goods by 6.8 percent and Non-durable consumer goods by 1.8 percent.
