Skopje, 2 April 2024 (MIA) – Ziadin Sela’s wing of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) said the Court in Tetovo ruled in Sela’s favor in the battle for the party’s leadership, thereby officially making him leader of the Alliance. AA’s Arben Taravari said he would appeal the decision.
“The Court decided to accept our request for the registration of Ziadin Sela as President of the Alliance for Albanians. All parties have been notified of the decision, and Ziadin Sela is now officially the leader of AA,” Sela’s wing of the party told MIA.
AA’s Arben Taravari, who is running for president with the support of the “Worth It” coalition, responded in a Facebook post Tuesday saying he would appeal the decision.
“They claim to have received the Alliance’s party seals so they can hand them over to DUI… We will appeal if this is true, but even if they do receive them, as a result of the captured system they have in their hand, I have a question… what about the people?! No court can help you win over the people. The changes have begun and there are no seals that can stop them,” Taravari wrote on Facebook.
MIA attempted to contact the Basic Court in Tetovo for confirmation, but was told to send an official email on Wednesday.
The Alliance for Albanians split into two wings after Taravari called on the membership to support him in the decision to join a coalition with the opposition parties of ethnic Albanians. Sela’s wing of the party decided to join DUI’s coalition ahead of the coming double elections.
