SEECP ministerial meeting kicks off

Skopje, 13 June 2024 (MIA) - Chairperson-in-office of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani delivered an opening address at the plenary session of the meeting of foreign ministers within the framework of North Macedonia's SEECP Chairmanship, under the motto "Bridging Differences, Building Trust," on Thursday.

Osmani thanked for the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) in the implementation of activities, adding that  "Another successful year is behind us, with numerous achievements in the field of regional cooperation, and a consensus for the election of a new RCC Secretary General," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

"I also want to highlight our founding documents that indicate the basic goal of our regional process- 'Good neighborly relations, stability, security and cooperation in South-Eastern Europe' and aspirations for 'Integration of our countries into the Euro-Atlantic family of free and democratic nations,' which are relevant and applicable today as in the past," Osmani stressed.

The Minister added that SEECP participants have reached important results in numerous areas, but that efforts will have to double in order to reach the final goal - EU membership for all SEECP participants.

Osmani's opening address was followed by speeches by the heads of the other 13 delegation participants, EU and RCC representatives. Next on the agenda is the adoption of RCC's Yearly Report, discussion regarding the election of a new RCC Secretary General, and adoption of the Declaration of the summit of heads of state and government of SEECP participants, which will be held this afternoon. ssh/nn/
