SEC conducts drawing lots over distribution of sites for posters and billboards ahead of elections

Skopje, 27 March 2024 (MIA) - The State Election Commission (SEC) accepted Wednesday requests for the accreditation of observers for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, submitted by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and OSCE Observation Mission. At a session today, SEC members stated that IFES and OSCE's requests were in line with the Electoral Code.

SEC conducted drawing lots over the distribution of sites for advertising posters and billboards based on Article 78 in the Electoral Code for the ruling parties, the opposition, and those without a parliamentary group and non-parliamentary parties.

Persons who submitted exemption requests with the appropriate documentation, or had institutions make that request on their behalf, were granted exemption from participating in municipal election commissions, and elected other persons as chairman, deputy chairman, and member of the municipal election commissions.

The session will continue at 1:30 pm with a discussion on the proposed guidelines for determining voters' identity. Also on the agenda are the draft-guidelines on the method and procedure for storing, processing and deleting fingerprint data from the electronic voter list, the draft-guidelines on the method of appointing members of election committees proposed by political parties for the election of president and MPs, amendments to the register of broadcasters and print media for the election of president and MPs and other topics.ssh/sk/
