SDSM spokeswoman: Parliamentary majority is stable
Skopje, 26 September 2022 (MIA) - The parliamentary majority is stable and the government is fully focused on managing the crisis, SDSM spokeswoman Bogdanka Kuzeska told MIA. "As the party leader said yesterday, those are matters to be dealt with within the party and I wouldn't comment on it. The parliamentary majority is stable and the government is fully focused on managing the economic and energy crisis as well as on the ongoing screening process," Kuzeska said when asked to comment on recent developments involving SDSM's junior government coalition partner DUI. Earlier today, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said that reports about an alleged offer for his replacement in the government are fake news. As regards an open letter by a group of DUI members, Osmani stated that there is a high level of democracy in his party where anyone can voice their opinion, but it is the leader Ali Ahmeti “who has the final say.” "The story ends here with Ahmeti’s yesterday’s remarks,” he said answering a journalist’s question at Monday’s press briefing. Asked whether his party’s infighting will affect the government’s stability, Minister Osmani stated that DUI has been a factor of stability in the past 20 years and “it will remain as such.” “DUI is a stable political structure, we don’t expect any further new developments,” he noted. Some 20 DUI unsatisfied members, including Musa Xhaferi, Izet Mexhiti, Nevzat Bejta, Blerim Bexheti and Visar Ganiu, in an open letter demanded a debate within the party to overcome the situation calling on party leader Ali Ahmeti to use his political and statutory authority and find a solution in order to protect the party unity. They accuse Artan Grubi of the party infighting. Skopje-based TV21 reported it was allegedly proposed to the dissatisfied members that Osmani could be told to resign as foreign minister. Reportedly, they dismissed the proposal saying the problem is Grubi and some of the other ministers. On Sunday, Ahmeti stated that DUI can function without any individual because it has established stable structures. “Without a doubt, DUI has established stable structures that can function without Ali Ahmeti, Blerim Bexheti, Musa Xhaferi and Izet Mexhiti. This is a national investment with a firm foundation and strong support. There’s no place for anarchy,” he said.
