SDSM central election commission approves three out of four candidacies for party leader

SDSM central election commission approves three out of four candidacies for party leader
Skopje, 4 December 2021 (MIA) – SDSM MP Slavjanka Petrovska told a press conference on Saturday that the party’s central election commission has accepted three candidacies for SDSM leader in line with the Rulebook. She noted that the deadline for submission of candidacy papers ended on Friday, and four candidacies were submitted. “The central election commission held a session today in line with the Rulebook, and decided that three candidacies are complete with all necessary papers and fulfill all requirements. One candidacy was not complete and was therefore rejected by a decision of the central election commission. The candidate in question has been notified,” Petrovska told reporters. Four candidacies were submitted until Friday, including that of Dimitar Kovachevski, current deputy finance minister, Frosina Remenski, former MP and SDSM vice-president, Vlastimir Aleksovski, SDSM member and activist, and Jovan Despotovski, Free Zones Authority director. The SDSM Central Board last week verified Zoran Zaev’s resignation as SDSM leader. He was at the helm of the party since 2013. The ruling party will hold extraordinary party elections on December 12 to elect a leader.
