SDSM central board names candidates for caretaker government
- The Central Board of SDSM has named its candidates for the caretaker government, authorizing party leader Dimitar Kovachevski, based on the initiative for a broad European front, to set up a working group and hold talks with all political entities, non-government organizations and everyone who supports the country's European path and future as a full-fledged EU member, to join in in achieving the strategic goal of EU membership.
Skopje, 26 December 2023 (MIA) - The Central Board of SDSM has named its candidates for the caretaker government, authorizing party leader Dimitar Kovachevski, based on the initiative for a broad European front, to set up a working group and hold talks with all political entities, non-government organizations and everyone who supports the country's European path and future as a full-fledged EU member, to join in in achieving the strategic goal of EU membership.
The Central Board nominated Jovan Mitreski as SDSM candidate for Parliament Speaker until the end of the 2020-2024 parliamentary composition term.
Mitko Bojmacaliev, current chief of staff of Minister Oliver Spasovski has been named candidate for additional Deputy Minister of Interior.
The Central Board members have made a decision on nominating candidates for ministers, deputy ministers and additional deputy ministers in the caretaker government from the ranks of SDSM.
Slavica Grkovska has been named candidate for Deputy PM in charge of good governance policies, Fatmir Bytyqi has been nominated candidate for Deputy PM in charge of Economic Affairs, and Bojan Marichikj has been named candidate for Deputy PM in charge of European Affairs.
The SDSM Central Board decided to nominate Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska as candidate for caretaker Minister of Culture, Kaja Shukova as candidate for caretaker Environment Minister, Ljupcho Nikolovski as candidate for caretaker Agriculture Minister, Blagoj Bochvarski as candidate for caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications, and Slavjanka Petrovska as candidate for caretaker Minister of Defence.
Viktorija Avramovska Madikj has been named SDSM candidate for caretaker Deputy Minister of Justice, Maja Manoleva as candidate for caretaker Deputy Health Minister, Aleksandar Bajdeski as candidate for caretaker Deputy Minister of Information Society and Administration, Filip Nikolovski as candidate for caretaker Deputy Finance Minister, and Miki Krstev as candidate for caretaker Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government.
Jovanka Trenchevska has been named candidate for additional Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the caretaker government.
"The caretaker government is a legal obligation and all parties should respect this legal obligation, participate in the election process, without calculations," SDSM said.
The Central Board elected Secretary General Mile Zechevikj Vardarski as head of the Central Election Headquarters of SDSM.
"SDSM is ready and going for a double victory in the presidential and parliamentary elections. SDSM will have the winning candidate for president and form the future pro-European government," the party added.
Slavjanka Petrovska was elected chair of the SDSM Central Board, as well as a new member of the Central Board along with Dashmir Afeti from Zhelino.
"The Central Board of the SDSM established the rules and the deadline for the procedure and criteria on nominating a SDSM candidate for President of the Republic of North Macedonia in the 2024 presidential elections, as well as the rules and the deadline for the procedure and criteria on nominating SDSM MP candidates in the 2024 parliamentary elections," the party said.
The Central Board has decided to convene the 27th SDSM Congress on nominating the party's presidential candidate, as well as to convene the 28th SDSM Congress on nominating SDSM MP candidates for the 2024 parliamentary elections.
