Skopje, 4 December 2023 (MIA) - The SDSM Executive Board has launched an initiative at a session on Sunday to set up a broad European front of all political and social stakeholders who support EU membership. Based on political principles for the setting up of a European front, the party's top body has decided to start a procedure for selecting a presidential candidate.  

"The elections will be held in the regular slot. SDSM believes it is acceptable that the presidential and parliamentary elections be held at the end of April and beginning of May, 2024. SDSM is ready and is going for a double victory, in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, in the name of top state and national interests. Together we will form the next pro-European Government, and together we will bring the country in the EU," SDSM said in a press release. 

SDSM calls on all political entities, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, activists, and everyone who supports the European path and sees the country's future as a full-fledged EU member, to join the European front.

According to the ruling party, a historic chance is before the country and all the citizens to continue the European path and achieve full-fledged EU membership with Macedonian language and identity protected. 

The press release adds that SDSM will proactively participate in setting up the European front and is ready to take the lead in achieving the top strategic goal.
