Schröder calls early trade to Warriors 'tough,' but exciting move
- German basketball star Dennis Schröder said he is moving from the Brooklyn Nets to the Golden State Warriors with a sense of excitement.
Los Angeles, 16 December 2024 (dpa/MIA) — German basketball star Dennis Schröder said he is moving from the Brooklyn Nets to the Golden State Warriors with a sense of excitement.
"I'm looking forward to the situation there," Schröder told dpa, adding that he is ready to play alongside "Hall of Famers."
In San Francisco, Schröder will join forces with superstar Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
The move was announced on Saturday and became official on Sunday.
Schröder is scheduled to fly to the west coast on Monday and expects to make his Warriors debut on Thursday in an away game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Having already said his goodbyes to his Nets teammates, Schröder acknowledged the trade came as a surprise.
"The initial reaction was one of shock. Being traded so early, after 25 or 26 games, is tough," said Schröder. "But of course it shows how much they want you. In the end, it's very, very cool."
The Warriors will be the eighth team of Schröder's 12-year NBA career. He has been one of the best point guards in the league this year, pushing the Nets into play-in contention in the Eastern Conference early in the season.
