Saraj polyclinic opens, to serve 45,000 citizens

Skopje, 10 January 2024 (MIA) - The new polyclinic in Saraj municipality that is set to serve over 45,000 citizens has opened. It is am investment worth Mden 79 million (EUR 1.3 million) provided by the Health Ministry. The new health facility officially opened on Wednesday in the presence of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, First Deputy PM Artan Grubi and Health Minister Fatmir Mexhiti.

The polyclinic in Saraj will provide healthcare for citizens from more than two dozen communities, including Bojane, Matka, Kopanica, Chajlane, Bukovikj, Kondovo, Ljubin, Radusha, Shishevo, Gorno and Dolno Svilare, Grchec, Krushopek, Laskarci, etc. Until now, citizens used the health services at the nearest polyclinic in Gjorche Petrov municipality.

"This is a collective achievement to be proud of. The new polyclinic will be part of the Skopje Health Centre, contributing to an even more effective primary health care for the community by providing preventive health care services, such as vaccination locations for pre-school and primary school students and preventive children's dentistry," Minister Mexhiti said.

The polyclinic will also provide tertiary healthcare, a biochemical laboratory, X-ray diagnostics, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) and dermato-venereology services.

"The polyclinic also has a professional medical staff, with 26 new employments as of last December, such as doctors of medicine, nurses, laboratory assistants, and other staff. We are fully committed to strengthening public healthcare by improving infrastructure, procuring new equipment, medicine, and investing in human capital. We will continue with the same pace in the future," Mexhiti noted.

PM Kovachevski stressed that citizens' health is top priority, adding that they are fulfilling long-standing expectations and needs of the citizens from this part of Skopje.

"For the first time on record, Saraj residents will receive primary health care in their community. The new polyclinic facilitates access to quality health care for the residents of this community. With this investment worth almost EUR 1.3 million, we helped provide modern treatment facilities and preventive health care services," said Kovachevski. ssh/ik/
