Berlin, 9 October 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has led Egypt to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The forward guided the seven-time African champions to a 3-0 victory on Wednesday over Djibouti, securing top spot in Group A. This marks Egypt's fourth men's World Cup appearance, following participations in 1934, 1990, and 2018.
Salah contributed two goals in the 14th and 84th minutes during the dominant win, while Ibrahim Adel also scored early on against the group's bottom team in Morocco's Casablanca.
Four years ago, Egypt narrowly missed out on a World Cup spot for Qatar after losing to Senegal in a penalty shoot-out.
Salah now hopes for a better performance at the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico than in 2018, when Egypt exited the group stage with three defeats, finishing last in their group.
