Paris, 13 September 2024 (dpa/MIA) - The French league has ordered Paris Saint-Germain to pay football star Kylian Mbappé €55 million ($60.7 million) in outstanding wages he claimed following his transfer to Real Madrid, L'Equipe and other media reported on Thursday.

The French league's legal commission ruled that PSG had wrongly failed to pay its former striker salary components that were set out in a supplementary agreement to his employment contract.

The sum demanded by Mbappé is related to outstanding monthly salaries for April, May and June, the last third of a bonus payment for Mbappé's last contract extension and an "ethical bonus."

In the dispute, PSG had invoked a verbal agreement to argue that they do not owe money to the player. Mbappé, on the other hand, did not consider the verbal agreement to have been fulfilled because his playing time had been drastically reduced following his transfer announcement to Madrid.

Mbappé played at PSG for seven years but left the club some two months ago to join Real Madrid. He won the Ligue 1 six times and the French Cup four times, but failed to win the Champions League, one of PSG's biggest goals.
