Regretful if positive economic indicators interrupted by snap elections: PM

Skopje, 13 October 2025 (MIA) - We put the country's interest before partisan emotions, said Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski on Monday, when asked about the possibility of early parliamentary elections.
Mickoski told reporters it would be regretful if the positive economic indicators are interrupted by snap elections.
"More than 600,000 citizens voted for this government at last year's elections. I understand there are political parties that have no programme and only promote division and nationalism in order to motivate their voters. The only thing they do is repeat 'early elections'. VMRO-DPMNE had a resounding win at the 2021 local elections, was in opposition for the next three years, and it overwhelmingly won last year's parliamentary elections. Today, we'll see the revised GDP for 2024 at three percent, one of the highest in Europe, which goes beyond the IMF and World Bank projections. It would be regretful if these positive indicators are interrupted by early elections. As a political party, we put the country's interest ahead of partisan emotions," said Mickoski.
Earlier, the State Statistical Office released data on the 2024 GDP, showing that the real GDP growth rate compared to the previous year was three percent, while the nominal growth rate stood at 6.8 percent.
