Rama: Your Constitution includes many minorities, model already familiar
Skopje, 14 November 2022 (MIA) – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama told a joint press conference with host Dimitar Kovachevski that the Constitution of North Macedonia includes many minorities and this model is already familiar, hoping that the country would not go back to the past and “self-isolate”.
“Your Constitution includes many minorities and the model is already familiar. It is not something that has been invented now and it should be upgraded. This is very simple. We have a slightly different model but the Parliament has recognized a significant number of minorities, including the modest Bulgarian minority. However, I don’t believe we have made this into a threat for some other minority,” said PM Rama and added that minorities are a treasure for a country.
He expressed assurance that North Macedonia would not go back to the past and self-isolate.
“Everyone sees that epochal efforts have been made on the Euro-Atlantic path and this is extremely significant for all, for the economy, for the social development, for the domestic processes. Therefore, I believe it would be fatal if there is regression and entrapment in history. The past is the past and it should not be a problem of having a large number of minorities in your Constitution and no one should be left out,” said Rama.
