Skopje, 29 December 2024 (MIA) - Upon conducting preliminary activities and based on obtained evidence, the Skopje Prosecutor's Office will initiate proceedings against ten persons under the suspicion of taking part in trafficking, falsification of documents and official documents, as well as concealment of commodities that are subject of trafficking and customs fraud.

In the course of 2021 and 2022, the suspects used false documents and altered chassis numbers in order to bring cars, which were subject to international searches and cars for which they evaded customs control in other ways, into the country, the Public Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.

The vehicles were registered in the country and resold among themselves on several occasions in order to conceal the trafficking, before selling them to the end users.

Two persons employed in the administrative services for vehicle registration are among the suspects.

One of the suspects is a Greek national, who will be handed over to the Hellenic authorities for further processing, reads the press release.
