Prices of school supplies to drop by 10-15 percent: gov't
- The Government is launching Friday the campaign for lower prices of school supplies by 10-15 percent for a period of one month (15 August-15 September).
Skopje, 15 August 2025 (MIA) - The Government is launching Friday the campaign for lower prices of school supplies by 10-15 percent for a period of one month (15 August-15 September).
The Government has taken the decision due to the fact that "a portion of the traders are hiking prices of school supplies before the start of the new school year, thus having a direct impact on the family budgets of thousands of citizens".
Wholesalers are set to reduce prices of school supplies by at least 10 percent, and retailers by at least 15 percent. This decision includes backpacks, notebooks, drawing sheets, pens and pencils, crayons, clay, markers, various types of colors, brushes, rulers and didactic materials, sharpeners and erasers, glue, calculators, decorative paper, folders and other products used by pupils, said the Government.
Besides the new price, traders are also obligated to display the old price valid on 1 June 2025.
The Government urges traders to avoid circumventing the decision, noting that the State Market Directorate will carry out the proper inspections.
Otherwise, it adds, sanctions will follow, since every decision in the citizens' interest must be applied.
