Ohrid, 18 March 2023 (MIA) — President Stevo Pendarovski welcomed to the Presidential Villa Biljana in Ohrid EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, and Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti for a working session held as part of the EU-mediated Belgrade–Prishtina dialogue.

According to a press release from his office, President Pendarovski said holding the high-level meeting in Ohrid was a sign that “North Macedonia had shown atypical Balkan behavior in recent years.” He added that the country was a rare example of a multi-ethnic democracy, as well.

“We see this as a recognition of our achievements so far and an incentive for our domestic political forces to continue the European reforms so we can become a full and formal member of the European Union as soon as possible,” the release says, highlighting the importance of the Belgrade – Prishtina negotiations for ensuring a permanent stabilization of the region and its faster European and Euro-Atlantic integration. mr/
