President Siljanovska-Davkova meets Macedonian athletes ahead of Paris Olympics

Skopje, 22 July 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met Monday with the Macedonian athletes who will compete at the Summer Olympic Games set to be held from July 26 to August 11 in Paris.
In a press release the President’s Office said Siljanovska-Davkova was informed about the final preparations of the Macedonian Olympic team, as well as the expectations from the competition.
The President handed the national flag to the athletes, which they will bear at the opening ceremony of the Olympics, and wished them successful performances “at the most grandiose and prestigious sporting event”.
“You, as Macedonian sports ambassadors, defend the colors of our country with pride and dignity. I wish you a successful and dignified performance in Paris. The Macedonian citizens and I are with you,” the President told the athletes.
At the meeting the President also emphasized the need “as a society and as a state, to do everything to support our athletes, to work on the expertise of the coaching teams, improving the overall conditions for sports in Macedonian society”.
The country will be represented by six athletes at the 2024 Sumer Olympic Games: Vladimir Egorov (wrestling freestyle 57 kg), Nikola Gjuretanovikj (swimming 400m freestyle), Anastasija Mojsovska (10m air rifle shooting), Edi Sherifovski (judo), Mila Relikj (taekwondo), Dario Ivanovski (athletics - marathon).
The meeting with the President was also attended by members of the leadership of the Macedonian Olympic Committee, coaches and referees.
