President Siljanovska Davkova visits Army General Staff and Ministry of Defense

Skopje, 4 July 2024 (MIA) - President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, paid Thursday a visit to the Army General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, meeting with Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski and Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Vasko Gjurchinovski.

The General Staff and Ministry leadership presented the state of play in both institutions, the processes of transformation, modernization, equipment and training of the Army, as well as participation in operations contributing to collective security, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

President Siljanovska Davkova said the Army is an institution that citizens trust the most and a credible ally in NATO, noting the need for further investments to improve conditions in all facilities and Krivolak army field.

The President expects the Army to continue with the same commitment in meeting its constitutional tasks of protecting the territorial integrity and independence, while army members to continue to serve as a model of professionalism, discipline and dedication, befitting of a NATO member-state.

Minister Misajlovski and President Siljanovska Davkova reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing security, peace and stability in the country, the region, Europe and beyond. They agreed that Macedonia needs fast economic progress, secure and stable future.

They discussed future investments and modernization of the defense sector, enhancement of the international defense cooperation with allies and partners, as well as improvement of standards and working conditions of Army members.

In the context of collective security, Misajlovski said the country would actively take part in operations protecting the region and the Alliance's eastern flank.

President Siljanovska Davkova and General Gjurchinovski referred to the realization of the planned processes and possible challenges in the Army's functioning, reads the press release.
