President Siljanovska Davkova receives credentials of new Argentine Ambassador Zothner Meyer

Skopje, 28 February 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received Friday the credentials of  Alejandro Zothner Meyer, the new Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, who is based in Sofia.

Siljanovska Davkova welcomed the Ambassador noting that the 25th anniversary since the establishment of Macedonian-Argentine diplomatic relations is a good opportunity to assess them as friendly, especially through building partnership in international organizations, namely the United Nations, the President's Office said in a press release. 

The President pointed out that EU membership has been and remains a top Macedonian priority. She also said that European integration processes in the Western Balkans should be strengthened, due to the need for enlargement in the function of European stability amid turbulent geopolitical changes in the world.

Ambassador Zothner Meyer briefed the President on Argentina's commitment to being a global partner of the Alliance.

"The two believe that despite the great geographical distance, it is time to expand, deepen and promote economic cooperation between the two countries, especially by creating favourable conditions for investments. According to the interlocutors, science, education, culture and tourism are a real challenge for mutual cooperation," reads the press release. 

The President pointed to the real possibility of the small Macedonian diaspora in Argentina playing an important role as a solid bridge between the two countries.

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova and Ambassador Alejandro Zothner Meyer expressed expectation for the strengthening of friendly relations and for progress in overall cooperation.
