Skopje, 26 June 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met Wednesday with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Zhang Zuo, her Office said in a press release.

Interlocutors agreed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are based on friendship and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, with President Siljanovska Davkova expressing readiness to further expand bilateral cooperation and strengthen the Macedonian-Chinese friendship during her term. She reaffirmed the Macedonian position of respecting the 'One China' policy. 

Participants in the meeting expressed expectation that mutual relations will continue to be further developed and promoted in all areas of mutual interest, especially in terms of trade exchange and capital infrastructure projects, highlighting the opportunities for expanding economic cooperation and tourism. In that context, the President noted that it is necessary for Macedonian businesspeople to be better acquainted with the regulations and the functioning of the Chinese market, in order to increase exports to China.

President Siljanovska Davkova and Ambassador Zuo also discussed the role and influence of the People's Republic of China in the world, as well as in theregion, especially in the context of the economy, and exchanged views and information on the positions of the Chinese foreign policy, the press release reads. ssh/nn/
