Skopje, 2 November 2023 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski met Thursday with Bundestag member Johann Wadephul, deputy-chair of the CDU/CSU group responsible for foreign affairs and defense and Head of the German Delegation to NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA).

Talks focused on current political developments in North Macedonia in the context of the Macedonian aspiration for EU membership and the situation in the wider region, the President's Office said in a press release.

President Pendarovski expressed expectation for further strong German support for the EU accession process, pointing out that speeding up the integration process is in the interest of the political, security and economic stability of the entire region and the European continent.

"Pendarovski and Wadephul stressed the need for implementing the necessary essential reforms in all spheres of importance for the smooth progress of accession negotiations. They also discussed bilateral relations between North Macedonia and Germany, and the partnership within NATO, noting that the two countries continuously develop their friendship and partnership and maintain an intense political dialogue," the press release reads. ssh/nn/
