Skopje, 6 June 2023 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski met Tuesday with representatives from the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM), and representatives of several journalism and media organizations, and discussed issues related to the freedom of expression, and media independence in North Macedonia, the President's Office reports.

"The representatives from the journalism and media organizations informed President Pendarovski about their work concerning journalists’ safety, and indicated that with the meetings that were held recently with journalists associations, competent bodies and institutions, that they expect to better understand the situation with the media in North Macedonia, and that will strengthen their mutual cooperation," the press release reads.

President Pendarovski stressed the role of the media in building a free and democratic society, and expressed satisfaction for the interest of international journalism and media organizations in visiting North Macedonia and helping media representatives from this country exercising their rights. ssh/sk/
