President Pendarovski briefly meets U.S. counterpart Biden at COP26 in Glasgow
Skopje, 2 November 2021 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski, who is taking part at the Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, met Tuesday with several statesmen, including United States President Joe Biden. “At the sidelines of COP26, I briefly met with U.S. President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. We are among the countries that actively undertake commitments in the fight against climate change. It is important to make our pledges and actions heard,” President Pendarovski said in a Facebook post. In yesterday’s address at the COP26 plenary session, Pendarovski said North Macedonia’s goal is to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 51 percent until 2030, compared to the 1990 levels. “By implementing the long-term climate action strategy, the country aims at transforming into low carbon emission economy all the while strengthening competitiveness and promoting social cohesion,” noted the President.
