Skopje, 2 August 2021 (MIA) – President and Supreme Commander Stevo Pendarovski has issued an order to help local authorities put out wildfires breaking out in parts of the country. “This evening in Krushevo, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski briefed me about wildfires reported across the country, including the major wildfire nearing Kochani,” Pendarovski wrote on Facebook. He said he issued an order in his capacity as Supreme Commander on army engagement and approving helicopters to be used at 4:30 pm. The helicopters earlier in the day put out blazes in Kumanovo’s Staro Nagorichane and they will be deployed tomorrow in Kochani. President Pendarovski said the situation will be monitored overnight and more teams and equipment will be sent to help local residents wherever necessary.
