Skopje, 16 July 2023 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski and First Lady Elizabeta Gjorgievska attended Sunday traditional event Galichnik Wedding that is held under his auspices.

President Pendarovski congratulated this year's bride and groom Oliver Andreevski and Elisaveta Buloska, wishing them joy, love and harmony in their future life together.

Pendarovski expressed satisfaction over the fact there is still large interest among young people to be part of the Galichnik Wedding, a Macedonian ages-long tradition, the President's Office said in a press release.

He also saluted the event's 60th anniversary, celebrating authentic wedding customs, songs and dances, representing a living cultural heritage and a permanent identity trait.

The Galichnik Wedding started on Saturday evening with a song and three shots fired in the valley of Bistra, whereas the couple exchanged their vows in church “Ss. Apostles Peter and Paul” on Sunday. The wedding ceremony, one of a kind in the world, offers a unique blend of Macedonian tradition, music, folk costumes, dance and food, all brought together in the breathtaking setting of the village of Galichnik.
