Preschool centers open despite national teachers' strike

Preschool centers open despite national teachers' strike
Skopje, 11 April 2022 (MIA) — Despite the national teachers’ strike that started on Monday morning, daycares and preschools have remained open, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release. Out of the country's 75 public daycare and preschool centers, 54 had joined the strike, the release says. Many parents did not take their children to daycare because of the strike. The preschool center “Detska radost” in the Municipality of Gazi Baba was the only one, however, that had no preschoolers at the premises today. The preschool center “Prolet” in the Municipality of Karposh had only a few children show up. Other preschools were working at capacity in line with the Law on Protection of Children while also exercising their right to strike, according to the release. “The protection of children and their rights remains high on the agenda of priorities of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy,” the release adds. mr/
