Skopje, 5 February 2025 (MIA) - Upon an order by public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje, the Ministry of Interior is conducting a preliminary investigation into abuses and arrangements between economic entities and staff at the Ministry’s Department of General Affairs regarding a public procurement process, the Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release Wednesday.
As of this moment, searches have been carried out in 16 locations on the basis of orders issued by a pre-trial judge, upon a request by a public prosecutor.
“Considering the phase of the procedure, we are currently unable to share more details,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.
The Interior Ministry confirmed the operation in a press release earlier on Wednesday.
According to unofficial reports, the investigation is related to suspected abuses in the tendering procedure for the servicing of official vehicles.
