Precise and targeted measures to be announced very soon, says Mickoski on inflation

Skopje, 7 July 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Monday that the Government will conduct an analysis of core inflation and come out with measures against soaring prices. According to him, the measures to be announced very soon will be precise and targeted.

"We are not happy that this is happening, but we must do a detailed analysis in the area of core inflation because I spoke with several economics professors and the conclusion is that the part of the products that create this inflation may not have increased as much in the supplier-market ratio as in core inflation and in the area of services inflation. There will be measures very soon, which we want to be precise and targeted. We do not want them to be measures that will cause a disaster," Mickoski told Monday's press conference at the Government.

He noted it has been initially observed that there was a big rebound in the inflation of services.

"We need to see what the share of inflation in services is in creating core inflation. Here we have a rebound, double digits," said Mickoski.

More specifically, he added, if you look at the information on agricultural products from a week or two ago, you will notice that the parameters in the input have increased by two percent, and in the output by 11 percent. "A farmer sells a product to someone who brings that product to the market and if they sell it for an 11 percent higher price, then it is clear what I am talking about," said Mickoski.

The State Statistical Office said Monday that inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in June 2025, compared to June 2024, increased by 4.5%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.7%.
