PPO, SEC meet on local elections, commission on election irregularities set up

Skopje, 9 September 2025 (MIA) - The Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) and the State Election Commission (SEC) said Tuesday they would strengthen interagency coordination within their jurisdiction, related to the organization and monitoring of the coming local elections, with a commission on election irregularities already set up.
Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski and commission chair Xhelal Bajrami met today with a SEC delegation led by president Boris Kondarko, also including vice-president Abdush Demiri and members Svetlana Karapetrova and Aleksandar Dashtevski.
Prosecutor Kocevski briefed the SEC members that the PPO has decided to set up a temporary commission that would act upon election irregularities, monitoring the process of organizing and administering the local elections on a daily basis. Upon identifying indications of election irregularities, reports will immediately be forwarded to the competent prosecutor's office, in order to undertake actions in determining the relevant facts, the PPO said in a press release.
Besides chair Bajrami, the commission will also include a prosecutor from all higher prosecutor's offices and a prosecutor from the Basic Prosecutor's Office Skopje as the office that covers the largest area in national terms.
Citizens, civil society organizations, political parties, domestic and international institutions, and all those having indications of a crime related to the election process will be able to file a complaint to the commission at izbori@jorm.mk, reads the press release.
