Poll: Most voters favour coalition between conservatives and SPD

Berlin, 24 February 2025 (dpa/MIA) - A poll suggests that a coalition between the conservative CDU/CSU bloc and the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) is the most favoured option following Sunday's elections.
According to a survey conducted by the opinion research institute YouGov, 44% of respondents supported a "grand coalition" comprising of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Bavaria-only Christian Social Union (CSU), and the SPD.
Meanwhile, 25% preferred a three-way coalition including the Greens, while 30% backed a coalition including the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), despite the CDU/CSU ruling out any collaboration with the party.
The survey, conducted among 1,001 eligible voters from 9:15 pm (2015 GMT) on election night, was taken before the final distribution of parliamentary seats was determined.
