Political consensus needed for constitutional changes, says Croatian Ambassador
Gostivar, 28 October 2022 (MIA) – Croatia is a strong and sincere supporter of the Republic of North Macedonia and its Euro-integration, a process that requires national political consensus, said Croatian Ambassador Nives Tiganj on Friday.
“Speaking from our own experience, I know the importance of domestic political consensus around constitutional changes as part of the negotiating process,” Ambassador Tiganj told reporters after a meeting with Gostivar Mayor Arben Taravari.
She added that Croatia is one of the EU members considered as the strongest supporter of the Euro-integration process through transfer of experiences and technical support. Fifteen twinning projects are currently implemented for strengthening of the state institutions during the process of negotiations, whereas North Macedonia has hired Croatia’s former chief negotiator as an advisor.
Mayor Taravari expressed satisfaction from the visit and the opportunities for enhancement of cooperation, saying Gostivar is fraternized with the Croatian town of Sveta Nedela, while a large number of people from Gostivar live and work in Croatia.
