Skopje, 15 December 2023 (MIA) - Police has seized 4.341 tons of marijuana, worth over EUR 10 million, from a legal entity in the Gostivar village of Vrapchishte. The seizure comes after a Government decision to revoke the certificate for medical cannabis cultivation due to irregularities in the entity's operations, the Ministry of Interior said on Friday.

The marijuana has been stored at the Agency for Management of Forfeited Property.

The seizure follows an inspection by a competent commission regarding the required area, equipment and staff for cannabis cultivation, which showed a number of irregularities.

The Ministry of Interior and the commission within the Ministry of Health will continue to carry out controls of legal entities holding certificates for medical cannabis cultivation over their adherence to regulations in the field, reads the press release.
