Skopje, 1 June 2022 (MIA) – Police seized about 86kg of marijuana worth about EUR 300,000 and arrested one person in yesterday’s anti-drug trafficking operation in the region of Bitola and Prilep, the Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday. The operation cut an international transport route of the narcotics from Albania via North Macedonia, with Greece as the final destination. Police officers tried to stop an Ohrid-registered vehicle at the Bitola-Prilep road but the driver ignored them and took off while damaging two police cars. Soon after, the police tracked the vehicle near Prilep and arrested the 23-year-old Ohrid resident as he threw four large bags beside the road, which proved to be filled with marijuana packages. Investigation in the case is underway.
