Police issue international arrest warrant for man suspected of killing Croatian handball player
Skopje, 12 April 2022 (MIA) – The Interior Ministry (MoI) has issued an international arrest warrant for a Skopje man, 28, following a prosecutor’s order on murder charges.
Angelo Gjorgievski is the prime suspect for the murder of Croatian handball player Denis Tot. A Skopje court has already ordered 30-day detention for two other suspects involved in the killing of Tot, who played for a local handball club in Skopje.
After a scuffle, the suspects assaulted the Croatian handball player outside a nightclub in Skopje last week. Tot fell to the ground after being kicked and punched repeatedly by the suspects, who left him lying without calling any help.
The handball player was taken to hospital after a member of the nightclub staff called the ambulance. When Tot was admitted, he suffered a cardiac arrest, a massive swelling of the brain, severed tongue and high body temperature. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital the next day.
